Custom Roll-Up Barriers & Doors

Dynatect produces customized roll-up door systems including all components and metalwork. A common application is robotic welding cells or other automated assembly. These doors are used in robotic welding and automated manufacturing in the aerospace, machine tool, and automotive industry. Dynatect’s industrial roll-up doors are generally suitable for light-duty or indirect machine tool applications with light/moderate coolant spray and no direct heavy chip loads. Configurable Doors

Within powered doors, Dynatect has 5 configurable product offerings that vary by geometry and technologies. The 5 configurable products are summarized on the Door Comparison tab.

Because these are used across multiple applications and industries, they are also featured on their own web pages (linked below):

Low Speed Door Family (up to 12”/sec)

These basic 12 or 24VDC doors include one controller style and door position sensors

High-Speed Door Family (up to 44”/sec)

These premium 3-phase AC powered doors include several optional controls, safety interlocks (up to PLe Cat-4), door position sensors, and LIDAR safety scanning

Mounting: These are not freestanding doors, but are intended to be mounted to an existing frame/structure. Dynatect can quote custom frames and mounting feet per application needs

- 12VDC or 24VDC powered
- Typical current consumption <10 amps
- Hardwire I/O (door open / door-close)
- 2 Modes of Door Motion
  - Full Travel Door Movement – The door will move to full-open or full-close after the corresponding input signal is momentarily applied (pulse)
  - Discrete Door Movement – The door will only move while an input signal is applied; when the input signal is released the door will stop moving
- FOB RF remote control
- 3 simultaneous modes of motion control
  - Hardwire door sensors for open and close
  - Overcurrent sensing for obstruction detection and auto-reverse
  - Door travel time-out limits
- No network connectivity
Included motor:
- Speeds from 8”-12” per second dependent on door size
- Heat management to support up to (6) open/close cycles every minute (subject to speed and size)
- Inline motor/gearbox mounted in door rollup tube eliminating the interference of right-angle gearboxes and motors
- Positively driven open and close combined with braked motor for auto locking position
- Anti-pinch cover shrouds the drive mechanism
Included end-of-travel sensors:
- (1) Door Open proximity sensor
- (1) Door Closed proximity sensor
- Mounted in door header, eliminating need for wiring down the door leg
- Mounting locations for installer-provided door sensors are available as an option
Manual bypass:
- Standard interior manual door release if power is lost
- Optional manual release from outside the compartment via keyed interface

Life Cycles

Designed for operating environments -40° F to +140° F
Lifetime cycles from 6k to 200k (dependent on door size)
The Powered Roll-Up Door life cycle is highly dependent on the total square footage of the door (see table)

Application Videos

Vertical Powered Roll-Up Door

The configurable low speed doors feature a motor and gearbox integrated into the tube, allowing flush mounting of the door frames. This geometry is ideal for applications where multiple doors are installed side-by-side. This is an ideal alternative to traditional right angle gearboxes and motors that consume space within the door opening or adjacent to the frame. As a standard offering, Dynatect does not provide these doors with freestanding frames. Dynatect can quote custom frames and mounting feet per application needs – as shown in this video.

These fully vertical doors are ~7’ tall (2.1 m) and ~4’ wide (1.2 m)

Tambour/Breadbox Powered Roll-Up Door

This video illustrates the motion of a tambour/breadbox style door which doesn’t “roll up” but alternately covers a vertical and semi-horizontal surface. This door is ~4’ (1.2M) high x 4’ (1.2M) wide.

Horizontal Powered Roll-Up Door

The configurable low speed doors can be mounted in multiple configurations. This video illustrates the motion of a fully horizontal door, 12’ long (3.7 m) and ~5’ wide (1.5 m):

Hybrid Roof Cover Bellows & Roll-Up Door Assembly for Robotic Welding

This custom assembly is a hybrid of a machine rooftop cover and a motorized roll-up door. It was built to contain smoke within a robotic plasma cutting cell. The door covers an opening that is 25 feet wide, 15 feet tall, and 16 feet deep (7.62 meters wide, 4.57 meters tall, and 4.88 meters deep).

Laser Protection Roll-Up Door

Dynatect can combine two well-established technologies of Alumaflex Doors and Gortite Automated Machine Safety Doors (AMSD).

Alumaflex “Type B” double-wall anodized aluminum slats feature a ball-and-socket style configuration that is both strong and light tight.
Gortite Automated Machine Safety Doors feature modular base plates, header and legs specifically designed for large, fast, mission-critical doors. The legs feature guides that accept the Alumaflex door to maintain a light-safe labyrinth.

Powered bi-parting metal canister door 9′ tall, 17′ wide

Motorized Steelflex Breadbox Door

This video shows a Steelflex scroll cover that is cog-driven with an electric gear-motor/brake. The shade is 163” wide, 114” long, and made from coiled spring stainless steel which is reinforced with 1.5″ square aluminum tubing. This application shows a breadbox geometry 53” tall by 16” deep. This is an example solution only; many sizes and geometry variants are available.
