Way Wipers

Way wipers push away chips and oil as the machine is in operation. Dynatect offers straight stock wipers, custom fabricated, and custom-molded way wipers. The wiping surface is molded from Nitrile (Buna-N/NBR) but can also be molded in fluoroelastomers (FPM) when the environment dictates.

Examples of installed way wipers

Way Wiper Variety

  • The largest selection of wiper designs and profiles to fit the most demanding applications
  • Hundreds of standard profiles to choose from
  • Capable of accommodating complicated guide way designs
  • Can manufacture custom profiles, if required

Low-Cost Tooling

  • Low-cost tooling for compression molded wipers (long-term hard tooling)
  • Due to our wide selection of existing designs, tooling, and standard profiles, there are cases where custom-fabricated wipers may be manufactured without tooling requirements

Wiping Surface Material

  • All standard offerings use Nitrile/NBR (Buna-N Rubber) which is a standard industry material and provides the following advantages:
    • Higher compatibility with a wider variety of cutting fluids and coolants used in typical applications including the use of synthetic fluids
    • Improved resistance to abrasion, oil, and hydraulic fluids
    • Lower coefficient of friction (compared to standard urethane designs)
    • Superior performance in “dry” machining applications
    • Improved performance in both wet and dry wiping applications.  NO CHATTER
    • Better finish appearance (better wiping surface)
  • If the application requires, Dynatect offers the use of FPM, fluoroelastomer performance rubber, which is highly resistant to acids and extreme high temperatures upwards of 410° Fahrenheit.  (210° Celsius)

Specifying Custom Way Wiper Profiles

To specify a custom way wiper profile, follow the online quote request form or PDF quote request form. A drawing of the wiper profile is helpful and in most cases necessary, please view the linked examples below.

Additional Information to Provide

  • Quantity needed, and frequency (one time vs. recurring)
  • Way dimensions
  • Type of machine or equipment needing the wiper(s)
  • Rail manufacturer part number or drawing, if applicable
  • Operating conditions (wet or dry)
  • What is the wiper exposed to? (coolant, mineral oil, dust, grinding, chips, wood)
  • Exposure to chips (specify if chip guard desired and chip temperature if applicable)
