Dynatect’s Gortiflex completely sealed bellows are constructed from a tube of elastomer with optional fabric reinforcement that is formed and vulcanized into a sealed cover with high-cycle durability for a wide variety of challenging applications.
This construction method allows for the use of multiple material selections and design attributes, while keeping costs relatively low compared to other solutions.
The elastomer and optional fabric can be engineered to be compliant to medical, high and low temperature, food-grade, outdoor, or other specialty applications. A zipper can be added for easy installation, internal guides can be added for bellows intended to protect spinning shafts/screws.
The standard shape is round but other shapes are possible with low-cost tooling (significantly less expensive than traditional molded bellows tooling). This allows for fast, customized, low volume production and prototypes with small upfront costs.
Preferred and Maximum Outer Diameters Based on Any Given Bellows Inner Diameter
The following charts show the preferred and maximum Outer Diameter (O.D.) for any given bellows Inner Diameter (I.D.) in inches. These are general guidelines, and subject to change based on other design parameters. Additional bellows inner diameters through 56 inches are available. Please consult Dynatect Sales for design assistance.
Note: dimension are in inches
Gortiflex convoluted tubing can be used as covers for screws, rods, ball splines. They can also be applied as flexible connections where vibration, movement or misalignment is involved.

Gortiflex bellows can be customized to include zippers, tie strips, or internal guides. Below is more information on the additional options.
An internal guide is a structural component installed inside a bellows to prevent the bellows from resting on the covered part. It consists of an inner hub, which interfaces with the moving component being protected (such as a screw, shaft, or spline), and a guide plate, which supports and guides the inside diameter of the bellows.
Internal guides are inserted inside the bellows and ride along the covered component to maintain alignment during extension and compression. As the bellows expands and compresses, the internal guide helps control motion, prevent snaking or twisting, and ensure consistent tracking over long travel lengths.
Internal guides are necessary when the bellows is protecting a moving mechanical component such as a ball screw, acme screw, spline, or rotating shaft. Guide selection depends on orientation, travel length, speed, and the component being protected.
Types of Guides
Note: Each guide requires a minimum overall clearance of 0.75” – 1” depending on the type used.
