Gortite®
Gortite® Sewn bellows are manufactured from heavy-duty elastomer-coated fabric stitched with nylon or specialty thread. A liquid coating can be added to seams to extend life in severe applications by reducing the thread exposure to the environment or to limit moisture leakage. Available in any size or shape (round, oval, box, way cover, etc.) without tooling charges.
NEW! Click the CAD Viewer link to register and use Dynatect’s configuration and CAD viewer tool for round bellows.
Sewn bellows help keep abrasive grit, impinging chips, and coolant off of machine ways and ball screws. Sewn bellows boots are ideal for protecting hydraulic cylinder rods, shafts and splines. Using a bellows cover is essential for mitigating damage to actuators and motion components, thus maintaining uptime.

An internal guide is a structural component installed inside a bellows to prevent the bellows from resting on the covered part. It consists of an inner hub, which interfaces with the moving component being protected (such as a screw, shaft, or spline), and a guide plate, which supports and guides the inside diameter of the bellows.
Internal guides are inserted inside the bellows and ride along the covered component to maintain alignment during extension and compression. As the bellows expands and compresses, the internal guide helps control motion, prevent snaking or twisting, and ensure consistent tracking over long travel lengths.
Internal guides are necessary when the bellows is protecting a moving mechanical component such as a ball screw, acme screw, spline, or rotating shaft. Guide selection depends on orientation, travel length, speed, and the component being protected.
Types of Guides
Note: Each guide requires a minimum overall clearance of 0.75” – 1” depending on the type used. This is calculated by the configuration tool.
Recommended Guide Types by Application

Mounting Accessories: Clamps (for end collars) or Back-up mounting plates (for flange ends) can be added to your order upon request
1. Stock boot part number
2. Outer diameter (O.D.) of part to be covered
3. Travel distance or extended length (note: ends excluded) Stock bellows are available in 12″ extended length increments
4. Specify type of end: Do you want a standard flange or a collar?
For Collar End: Specify collar width and collar I.D. (inner diameter)
For Flange End: Specify Flange I.D. (inner diameter) and Flange O.D. (outer diameter)
5. Specify mounting options:
a. C208 Clamp: stocked in any size required, clamp band is 1/2” wide, minimum 1/2” I.D. – specify in 1/8” increments.
b. C205 flange back-up plate: shipped blank. If mounting holes are desired, please send sketch indicating bolt hole pattern and size.
Why allow damaging chips and abrasive particles to fall on the ways of your Bridgeport and then wipe them off? Instead, keep them clean from the start while maintaining accuracy and increasing the lifespan of your machine. Bridgeport way protectors are sewn bellows made of durable Neoprene-coated nylon fabric. Dynatect can manufacture replacement bellows cover kits for the classic Bridgeport Series I & II manual mill. If needed, the cover can be upgraded to vulcanized/sealed construction with CSM-coated fabric is an option.
