Repair & Replacement
A large industrial machine in a warehouse setting features a smooth, reflective surface framed by Steelflex roll-up covers. The area is surrounded by safety barriers. The high ceiling and ample overhead lighting create a well-lit space perfect for heavy-duty operations.
A large Steelflex industrial conveyor belt, partially unrolled, with a smooth, dark surface and metal reinforcements along the edges is displayed against a plain white background.
Steelflex is a metal roll-up cover that can be used to protect a machine way or as a safety pit cover. Steelflex covers are available in medium, heavy-duty, or walk-on duty construction. Walk-on covers address the problem of unprotected openings which pose a fall hazard for workers.
Whether you are looking to safely cover your machine way, inspection pit, or tank, Dynatect’s Steelflex covers can be customized to suit your application environment and power requirements.
Steelflex operates with low deflection over wide spans, making them suitable for covering larger spans and taking on heavier chip loads.
Steelflex walk-on covers are ideal for applications where:
Interested in turnkey installation? Dynatect can connect you with our installation partner for US and Canada.
We will recommend support rib/tube size and spacing based on inputs such as weight load and unsupported span. Please view the Steelflex Deflection Calculator Worksheet for more information. For replacement covers, please specify support type and spacing.
Medium-Duty Steelflex way covers provide way protection against moderate hot chip and coolant loads in milling and drilling machines. With low deflection over wide spans, they are an upgrade over fabric shade protection. All widths can be rolled compactly over a spring-loaded roller. A stainless steel top surface with 1/4″ x 1/4″ aluminum extrusions bonded to the underside provides extra strength and support.
Air brakes are used when the cover is attached to the customer’s machine/saddle. The customer’s machine motor pulls the cover out, the air motor assists with the retraction of the cover. We also recommend an air brake for wide covers to keep the cover tightly wound around the take-up drum when the air is turned off. The air brake will engage when the air is turned off. (must have air)
Every air motor must have an F.L.R., either supplied by customer or supplied by Dynatect. The motor will not work without it.
The F.L.R. works in conjunction with the air motor.
The air must go through the F.L.R. to be cleaned. It also ensures the oil lubricates the motor. The F.L.R. must be located within 24 inches of the air motor. If mounted further away, the lubrication will not reach the motor. This is called out on our approval drawings.
Recommended where lubricants are present (slip hazard).
Note: Over time, coolants can attack the tape.

Replaceable wear surface. Typically used when cover is riding on steel way or steel angles. Prevents steel from riding directly on steel. Where there are lots of lubricants, sponge seal helps prevent lubricants from wicking under the cover and dripping over the ball screw.
Pit or tank cover applications.
Only used in conjunction with scroll-take up for low-friction travel and to prevent wear on aluminum ribs. Not used with spring-take up mechanisms.
Can be caster wheels or a tube. Transitions the shade from take-up drum to way surface. Idler can be used in both above the way and below the way applications. Can be caster wheels or a tube. Optional. Various types available for mounting the shade to the customer’s machine/saddle.
Optional. Can be provided by customer or by Dynatect. Supports and guides the shade above the way surface. Allows customer to mount at preferred distance above the way surface.
Used for pit and tank applications. May be used in conjunction with electric motor and controls. Alternative where air motor cannot be used.
Used in conjunction with electric motor to extend and retract shade.
Steel diamond plate for increased traction.
