Dynatect’s Automated Machine Safety Door (AMSD) is an effective solution for increasing productivity and industrial safety. This high-speed door effectively isolates hazardous operations from personnel, equipment, and materials. Yet, it allows for easy access when needed, minimizing cycle times to keep production lines running efficiently.
Beyond its core function as a safety barrier, the AMSD demonstrates versatility. It can adapt to various automated processes, functioning as both a secure barrier and an industrial safety curtain. This automated machine door can be equipped with an optional LiDAR scanner, which senses an obstruction approaching the closing door and quickly stops the door to avoid impact, providing an additional layer of safety for workers and equipment.
The AMSD can be used with existing machine guard panels to create a comprehensive machine guarding system. This system optimizes separation between hazardous and non-hazardous areas within a facility.
Modular design includes (2) baseplates with leveling screws, (2) legs, (1) header with pre-rolled curtain assembly and gearbox attached, and (1) motor
No cutting/drilling/tapping or welding required
Free-standing design not dependent on machine or walls for support (Anchoring/securing to floor is installer’s responsibility)
Comprehensive installation service available*
*Dynatect can connect you with our installation partner for US and Canada. When requesting a quote, let us know if you’re interested in installation service
Can be integrated into Dynatect-provided, or user-provided controls
Dynatect’s Variable Speed Controller (option) includes integrated logic for control of LiDAR scanner, light curtain, and fixed photo eye. Safety interlock terminations for dedicated machine safety logic.
Safety-rated LiDAR scanner also available, and must be paired with a safety relay/PLC
Safety interlock option meets PLe/Cat-4 safety requirements when combined with appropriate logic and conformance to risk assessment
Save Space
Use of a physical barrier with safety sensors can save up to 30 square feet of manufacturing space.
Using the ANSI minimum safety distance formula, the door limits the depth penetration factor and average approach speed, allowing closer location of the safeguarding device:
Ds = Safety Distance K = 63 in/sec (OSHA hand speed) Ts = Stop Time (in milliseconds) Tc = Response time of machine control (in milliseconds) Tr = Response time of presence sensing device (in milliseconds) Tbm = Additional time (in ms) to permit normal wear of brakes
before safety distance is violated Dpf = Distance (in inches), penetration depth factor
Industry Applications for Automated Safety Barriers/Doors
Automated production and machine processes that require preventive measures, such as robotic welding, processing, and transport tasks.
Contain common process-generated hazards, such as light debris, fluid splatter/mist, weld smoke, sparks, and intense flash.
Video: Installation at a Manufacturer of Plastic Cases in Cannon Falls, Minnesota. The Gortite® VF Door was chosen for this application to improve safety and housekeeping. The door isolates the CNC machine router, preventing occasional flying debris from exiting the work area.
