Dynatect-Sponsored MSOE Team Reaches Finals at ASME Student Competition

News

John Sager, a former Dynatect engineering intern, competed in AMSE’s annual Student Design Competition: Robot Football.

John is a member of Milwaukee School of Engineering’s team, the “Angry Snails.” Dynatect congratulates “Angry Snails” team members (John, Amith, Kevin, Aaron, and Andrew) on advancing to the final rounds and scoring at the top of the charts.

From April 13th through April 15th, collegiate robotics teams from all across the country gathered at Penn State for E-Fest 2018. One unique feature of the Angry Snails’ robot is the trapping and shooting mechanism. They wanted to be able to make aerial shots, not just ground shots. This allowed adjustment of the shooting angle, so the ball can be tossed over other robots and wall barriers.

The team demonstrated its engineering and trouble-shooting skills by adjusting the robot throughout the competition to keep it battle-ready, all the way to the finals. Dynatect is very proud of team Angry Snails for a job well done representing the next generation of engineering from the Milwaukee area.

The ASME Student Design Competition provides a platform for ASME Student Members to present their solutions to a range of design problems – from everyday household tasks to groundbreaking space exploration. Each team is required to design, construct, and operate a prototype meeting the requirements of an annually determined problem statement.
